I know it’s possible to have text to indicate that a measure or set of measures gets repeated multiple times. But is there a way to also have it played back n times as specified?
For example, here is a work I composed several years ago and notated in Finale. It’s straightforward to create repeats notationally but I could also specify how may times the measure (or in some cases, measures) would play back before jumping to the next measure. I’m not finding anything in the manual or this forum to address this. Just asking for when I decide to do something like this again. Thanks.
Thanks. I think that is specific to first- and second repeat endings, which is not what I was looking for (I assumed that was not a problem in Dorico).
I had searched (using Google, which ties into this forum) “specifying number of repeats for playback” FWIW. But thank you for educating me on how to search for something.
If I try to create a repeat structure like what I displayed from that earlier work of mine, all I get is a slash mark in the middle of the measure. That’s not at all what I want. I want to be able to have a repeat beginning and ending within a measure and have Dorico play it back more than a default 2x, let’s say. I’m just not seeing any way to do that.
Hi @dtoub, following the above suggestions, here a video with the workflow:
If you then want to hide the Counts (and use your lines and numbers for display only, instead), you can select them (in Engrave mode) and set the property Count Location to Neither:
Google (at least in the past) has had the unfortunate habit of directing users to older versions of posts, since having been around longer they have more clicks. You should be able to specify how many times a passage repeats using the Properties panel when your closing repeat barline has been chosen.
