Resource overhead of Expression Maps and Track Delays?

I am having some pretty bad glitching with my project in Cubase 15. It has about 30 VST Instrument tracks, all BBC SO, to which I’ve added some Track Delays (to Spiccato violins, for example) as well as using Expression Maps to change articulations (rather than loaded a completely separate track per articulation).

It won’t play through without jumping and glitching and it’s virtually unusable. I’m trying to figure out if I’m adding to the problem by using Expression Maps and Track Delays.

It’s a new Windows 11 PC with Intel i7 3.4GHz, 68Gb RAM, Cubase 15 Pro v15.0.10, and the Spitfire VST version is v1.12.1

Thank you.

Hi,

Are you sure there wasn’t an issue before adding the Expression Map?

Does it help, if you increase your Audio Device’s Buffer Size? What Audio Device do you use?

I can’t be sure at what point in the process the issue manifested. I’m currently doing an MA and my project is to reproduce a section of orchestral music (I’m watching someone doing this on a video) and at some point, when I played the track back, it began glitching. I could (I guess) work backward from now and gradually remove things until it becomes stable.

My Audio Device is a Steinberg UR22 MkII, with updated drivers.

I’ve increased the buffer size from 128 to 1024 and it’s had no effect. I’m reasonably confident that all the drivers etc. are up-to-date.
