This is technically an Absolute issue that encompasses multiple VSTs not just Retrologue, but there isn’t an Absolute section in these forums. Earlier this year I got HALion 7 and it had next to no problems working. I purchased the Absolute synth collection for this year’s Summer Sale along with the crossgrade discount H7 provides. I had decided that I wanted to download the other VSTs to another drive on my computer other than the C drive, and encountered an issue to where the preset library is empty for Retrologue 2 and the others (save for HALion 7), and if I decide to hit the “next” (right arrow) preset button within the VST interface, my DAW (Cakewalk SONAR), crashes from application hang.
I reverted Retrologue 2 back to C drive, and this STILL happens! What is going on here?
Might I suggest you just use the Windows Snipping tool to just capture a selected portion for the screenshot? There’s not need for videos in that regard.
I think the main takeaway from Steve’s post was for you to look in the details for the paths of the libraries which are missing and ensure the paths are correct and verified.
Also, it sounds like you’re saying the “presets” for the libraries are gone, not the libraries themselves.
Since you were moving files around, have you tried just reinstalling the products/collections?
I was able to fix the problem. I ended up uninstalling everything Steinberg including my already established Halion 7 stuff, reinstalling everything starting with the latest version of the Download Assistant which includes the necessary Steinberg apps and plugins (like Mediabay), reactivating my Absolute copy via Activation Manager, and then installing all that entails to the default location (c:/user/downloads/Steinberg).
All presets appear for all Steinberg VSTs (standalone and in-DAW versions) now. I will say the fascinating thing in all this is that The Grand always had working paths for the piano presets when the others didn’t, like it was unique to them.
