Revamped MIDI Play/Scrub Tool PLEEEASE

Hey there! Our playtool instrument works fine with audio, but it doesn’t function with MIDI tracks in the playlist at all. There’s also no ‘play’ option in the MIDI editor.

Please read my short post to the end, its very important
Could we please have a function to play notes from the middle of a MIDI signal? Currently, it only plays from the start of our MIDI note, which makes it impossible to hear chords using the play tool. Now to have what we want we need to solo our track, place our cursor at the reading line, and then press play, which takes a lot of time. This also makes it challenging to identify resonance or other issues among multiple MIDI tracks we have.

To be honest, this is the only issue I have with Cubase that slows down my workflow. It’s otherwise a fantastic DAW where we create many tracks, but the current setup requires us to spend extra time listening to specific instruments at specific points.

I’ve attached screenshots and a link to a 2-minute video demonstrating how useful this tool is when composing and searching through a playlist.

Colleagues, please help with comments. Write your opinion. We need both Steinberg to hear us
Thank you, Steinberg. We love you, but we’d love to love you even more in future.

do you have midi notes chase events checked on?

Of course! And even with that cubase cant play midi notes how I described.

This is not related to midi chase settings.

This was only added to Cubase a couple versions ago for midi, but it’s not terribly useful to me either. I still simply activate the prefs Track Selection Follows Event Selection and Enable Solo on Selected track and then use the transport commands for this purpose.
