When working with the pure Noteperformer set I can adjust all instruments’ reverb level in NP’s mixing desk.
When working via NPPE (Sketch activated) this is not possible. Even with the reverb level set to zero in NP there is still (a lot!) reverb.
Is it possible to adjust the reverb level while using NPPE / Sketch, since I obviously don’t have access to the settings in Halion Sonic which runs the Sketch library? Or is the reverb I hear baked into the Sketch sounds and therefore not changeable?
Otherwise, the obvious thing is Dorico’s default Reverence reverb, as @Martin90 says - I’d click the power button where it says “Reverence” to disable.
if it’s missing you need to do a couple of things. First of all in the Expression map for NotePerfomer, make sure that “Apply stage template settings” is enabled in the “Expression Map data” main header. Then you need to set a Stage and Space template from the Play menu. After you do this, you should then find the reverb channel appears and you can then disable Reverence as above.
glad to hear it! This particular issue never occurred before Dorico v5 when the Stage and Space templates were introduced. You are far from being alone in having this issue – I quite often see it myself–and has to do with how reverb is now integrated into the concept of the sound staging, even if you may not be personally interested in using its features (of course many libraries have their own sound staging but this feature can be very useful for more basic ones)
Yes, I can see myself using it, it’s only that all the newcomers like myself don’t have a clue what’s going on under the hood. It’s just a question of applying UX (as in User Experience) in development, in this case: if there is a Reverb plugin activated somewhere just show it.
I agree entirely, having earlier experienced the same frustration, it’s not the most user-friendly implantation for the newcomer. I’d personally prefer the reverb tab to always show, even if you do not require Stage and Space and even if I understand the logic behind the design.
