Rewriting 64th notes tuplet

Hi everyone! I have this passage in an organ piece that I’d like to rewrite, changing the direction of the stems similar to the picture, but instead, reflecting the hand that is playing the notes. That is: the first 5 notes are in the LH (stems down), the next 4 are in the RH (stems up), next 3 in the LH (stems down), and the last 4 in the RH (stems up).

Is this possible? This is a tuplet 16:16.

I would think that using ALT/OPT + N (as in North) to switch a note to the next higher staff and ALT/OPT + M to switch a note to the next lower staff would be what I’d try first.

Easy – no tuplet needed, as these are actual 64th notes. Here’s how I would do it.

  • Write the scale in LH, and move the notes you want in RH to the top staff with Alt-N
  • If you still want to cross-staff any notes, this may cause the stems to go the wrong direction, so flip them
  • Select the whole bit in both staves and remove any rests
  • Set beaming prefs if desired to connect the 3 beams across

With unequal numbers of notes in the groups, I think I would disconnect the beams across the (hidden) rests.

There are some other runs in the piece that are tuplets so I just assumed this was as well but you’re right that one is not. Thank you Mark and Derrek. It worked well!

(You had a longer explanation.)
