At this point I’m looking for confirmation that Dorico can reproduce the above.
The features shown in the image above are: 1) Rhythm independent of written notes, 2) smaller rhythm notation, 3) floating above the staff, and 4) chord symbols above all.
As I rifle through online documentation, videos, and whatnot - I believe Dorico can recreate the above (fingers crossed).
Yes, that’s possible. You can either display the rhythm from another player using the powerful cueing feature (Shift-U popover), or, if you don’t want to have another player, add a separate up-stem voice with small noteheads and hidden ledger lines.
Even If the cue does not represent another specific player’s part, I still recommend using the dedicated cue feature, since it takes care of vertical placement and ledger line-hiding automatically. In those situations, I typically have another player (hidden in the final score layout) that I call “composite cue source” or “cue source”, which I use specifically for this purpose.
