I am writing a guitar part. All cool slashes for a couple of measures, then notation for a couple. I want to copy the same figure later in the piece. CTRl-C and paste in new location, and then whole rests appear in the previous material? What simple thing am I doing wrong? I AM a new user…
Welcome to the forum, gdayswu. What are you copying? The slashes or the music? You might find that setting the option at the top of the Rests page of Notation Options to suppress bar rests in secondary voices helps. If not, please provide a few more details and we’ll be happy to help.

You can do that: create a slash region on top of the music you’ve input, and that music will be hidden behind the slashes.
