Rode NT-USB mini does not work in Cubase 11. The solution posted on the forum earlier - does not work. The sound through the microphone output to the headphones is coming. But the sound from the microphone in Cubase is not. Cubase does not see such a device as a microphone at all.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Do I understand you right, you don’t get a signal from the mic?
Are you on Mac or Windows, please?
Windows 10. And I saw a link to a solution to the problem. This method doesn’t work. Cubase sees the Rode as an audio playback device, but does not see it as a microphone.
Hi,
Could you post the link to the page, you are talking about, please?
It’s very strange, but on one computer (old) this solution (following the link) works, but on the other (new) it doesn’t. Asio4All does not see the microphone.
At first I thought that it was the driver version - on the old 2.14, and on the new 2.15. Put 2.14 - still does not see. Removed Rode Connect - also did not help.
I will search further. If you want, delete the topic.
Hi,
OK then it seems it’s between the Rode driver and ASIO4ALL. Not in Cubase, right?
Hi there, I’ve recently installed Cubase 14 and I’m also trying to connect a RODE NT-USB mic. It seems to be recognised in that it appears to be showing in the control centre but not when adding an audio track. There is no sound being registered at all. I’ve carried out a sound test on my laptop and the mic works fine - just not in Cubase. I’ve also followed the guidance in the link you posted but like you, I had no success. Did you manage to resolve the issue please? Thanks
Hi there, I seem to have a similar issue. Are you able to confirm if there was a solution to this please? Thanks
What is the control centre? Something to do with Cubase?
I’ve also followed the guidance in the link you posted but like you, I had no success.
OK, but in what way do you have no success…at what point exactly does this not work for you??
Hi, yes, the control centre is a area in Cubase that lists all the devices / instruments that are connected. It includes microphones, headphones, instruments etc etc.
I’m really new to Cubase but have been getting some help from someone who is much more familiar - he tried for 2 hrs and couldn’t resolve the issue. So, the mic seems to be connected to Cubase, and was added as an input, but when it’s added as an audio track, there is no sound registering at all.
Would be great to know if the original issue from 3 years ago was resolved and if so, how and that sounds like a similar problem..
Can you screencap whatever you’re calling control centre…I don’t think Steinberg calls anything by this name.
I assume you’re on Windows not Mac?..Is it the mini or a different NT (the big one has it’s own ASIO driver)
Have you selected the NT (or ASIO4all) as your audio device in Studio Setup/Audio System?
Set up input bus in audio connections?
Chosen the correct bus as track input?
Have you ever recorded anything at all from other usb sources into Cubase?
Sorry, control panel, not control centre. My mistake. Yes, Windows 11, and the mic is the RODE NT-USB. Should I install a separate driver for that, if so, I didn’t realise. Maybe that’s the issue. Yes, I have ASIO4all installed and selected. As I said I’m really new to Cubase and have attempted to add several input busses with the support of a friend who is very competent on Cubase, but none of those inputs worked when adding them as audio tracks. Nothing recorded at all yet as I’m only just getting started with set-up. Thanks
There’s not really anything called “control panel” in Cubase either. Are you talking about Studio/Studio Setup menu
Latest version of the non mini Rode has it’s own ASIO driver that you should use.
If it’s older version then I think you may have to stick with ASIO4all.
2 options I can think of.
- You’re doing everything right but mic privacy settings are on in Windows…as nothing else recorded, this is a distinct possibility.
- You have incorrect settings somewhere in which case you’ll need to post some screencaps so we can see where you’ve gone wrong…particularly as you don’t yet know the names of things.
The buttton “Control Panel” simply opens the UI of the selected ASIO driver. You seem to have selected ASIO4ALL, so it will open that UI. Whatever you see in that panel comes from ASIO4ALL, not from Cubase.
It would be helpful to get a screenshot of the ASIO4ALL panel (in its expert mode, please).
I’ve just given this microphone to a friend. I bought another one for myself, which I connect via an external sound card. Cubase obviously doesn’t know how to work with USB microphones.
You always need an ASIO driver. Regardless of the device you are using.
ok, thanks for letting me know
Thanks, I’m using ASIO4ALL v2
