Roomworks problem

Hi,
Cubase 5.5.3
Win7 64bit
i7 3.07 GHz
24GB Ram
If I have project with more than 6GB of Ram loaded when I want to launch Roomworks it either mutes the channel or crashes Cubase. Did anybody had the same problem?

Hi,
could anybody load in Cubase 5.5.3 64 bit more than 6.5 GB Ram, launch a couple of instances of Roomworks and see if Cubase works fine. I’ve written to Steinberg support and they loaded 1GB ram and said everything works fine, but when I have so little amount of Ram loaded there’s no problem too. Problem starts over 6.5 GB Ram. Can’t believe that don’t have better compurters…

Please help!!!

Hi Keyzone,

I had this exact same issue back in October 2010 with version 5.5.1. I’m sorry to say after scouring the forums and having numerous phone conversations with Steinberg I never managed to solve it. I only found 1 other person who experienced the same issue.

I haven’t experimented enough with 5.5.3 but from what you’re describing it looks as though the issue is still present.

I resorted to using Reverence in 64 bit Cubase, and used Roomworks only when in Cubase 32 bit (which still seems to work fine).

Let me know if you find a solution!

Cheers

Hi fesboy,
thanks for the answer. As I can see in your subsription you have enough Ram to help me. In Steiberg support they suggested to reinstall either Cubase or OS. I think is too radical without testing that issue and unfortunatelly they have only 32bit computers (can you believe it?!!!) so thay couldn’t load as much RAM as I asked them to. So, would you be so kind and load over 6.5 GB RAM in Cubase and launch couple instances of Roomworks, run the project and see what happens? I think it’s gonna take a couple of minutes but it can help me (and us I think) a lot. I would be very very thankful

Thanks

Hey Keyzone,

During my troubleshooting I reinstalled Cubase and Windows and neither had any effect. I tried everything the support staff suggested but in the end they said they’d have to report it as a known issue. Unfortunately as there are so few of us experiencing this issue I doubt it’s too much of a concern for Steinberg at this stage. It might be worth looking through the Cubase 6 forum to see if it’s been addressed for that version.

So I just loaded one of my projects that uses around 15GB of RAM. As before, loading 1 instance of roomworks crashed Cubase. The problem Signature is below.

You were using Cubase 5.5.2 in this test?

I have the same problem… really annoying, especially since that reverb was perfect for minor verb work since they didn’t suck too much CPU. Now it doesn’t work anymore.
