Hi,
Another night of struggle!
Trying to build up a new configuration with a Surface Pro and a Yamaha MOXF8, I wish I could plug a mic into Audio In L and a guitar preamp into Audio In R off the MOXF to feed two global stacks in VL
Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO driver is selected in VL and I created two new Inputs “vocal” and “guitar” in Devices > Connections… , then two global stacks, one for the mic and the other for guitar. The MOXF provides two pairs of audio: 1&2 for A/D In and 3&4 for Parts. This is where things are getting blurry…
I can’t get the audio signals to be correctly routed towards their appropriate stacks. Microphone and guitar are blended, or one of them is missing whatever selection I do in Connections. I can’t guess the logic of what happens.
The problem seems to appear only with the Yamaha MOXF, the routing works perfectly well with a NI Komplete Audio 6.
The only thing I noticed is that the names of the audio input channels in Devices > Connections are limited to 25 characters, so the MOXF channels are displayed as:
- Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO: stereo 1+2
- Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO: MOXF6/MOXF8
- Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO: MOXF6/MOXF8
- Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO: stereo 3+4
- Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO: MOXF6/MOXF8
- Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO: MOXF6/MOXF8
It’s not easy, if not impossible, to make sure we make the right choice, as all mono channels are displayed with the same name, probably due to the 25 characters limitation.
This is probably not the explanation of the trouble, but I can’t find another clue…
Thanks!
Edit:
In Cubase, the mono channels are displayed as “MOXF6/MOXF8 - n”, where n = Channel number.
