Saltato "auxiliary notes"

Hello,
I need to reproduce something similar to this “auxiliary notes” that appear below the staves of the Celli in the screenshot attached [from Widmann’s Viola Concerto]:

Captura de pantalla 2024-09-21 a les 19.13.20

I have tried so many things but none of them works really good…
At first, I tried to enter them as a down-stem voice and scale the notes, but there are too many notes and the rhythm doesn’t fit…
Then, I tried with grace notes, which came closer to the result I want, but it is very difficult for me to adjust them to make them coincide vertically with the notes in the staff (I moved them with Engrave Mode). Moreover, they add an unwanted space to the staff (the place that they would use in normal conditions).

Could someone help me? Thank you!

You could do it with a line with repeatable symbols. You just need to find some symbols that are inverted from these. You could create them as SVG:s in Affinity Designer or similar.

I’ve just spent a few minutes creating a font that will do this job. I’m going to have some dinner, and when I return, I’ll provide you with a font and a project with a line style built that will do the job. Patience, please…

It would be nice if we could invert, not just reverse the lines and symbols.
But of course, you know this already.

Download, unzip, and install the attached Widmann-Regular font on your system:

Widmann-Regular.otf.zip (1.4 KB)

Then open this project, which contains (as @jesele suggested) a set of repeatable symbols using the characters from this font, a line body using those repeatable symbols, and a horizontal line style using that line body:

widmann-aux-lines.dorico (677.9 KB)

It looks something like this:

Wonderful, Daniel, thank you very much!!!

Good evening Daniel,
I installed the font and opened the project following your indications (thank you!) and it worked, but when I want to use the line body or line in my project, it looks like this:

What I am doing wrong? Maybe I did not create the line in my project properly…?
Thank you again!

If necessary, you can go to Library > Repeatable Symbols and select each of the Flipped rit./accel. Beam symbols, and adjust the “repeat offset” parameter to reduce it a bit. That way, the symbols will actually overlap slightly rather than abutting.

Are you seeing this issue everywhere or only in Galley View?

Jesper stole the words from my mouth, Daniel.

The generosity of members of this forum and the Dorico team are inspiring!

Yeah, creating a font Saturday evening, and some people wonder why we are so defensive when Dorico is criticized—the whole team’s absolute devotion to making the best possible notation software is mind-blowing.
