Hello
inspired by a YT video from Cubase- channel I want to rebuild the shown once. You always learn something new - and sometimes there are peculiarities that require explanation and a solution.
In this case it concerns the GASe5. In the empty kit, a sample is drawn from the Mediabay and a library (a tom sample) on an empty pad. However, when the sample is played, there are noticeable differences in the sound. The sample played from the MB (or from the track) is much more voluminous than when I trigger it from the pad. Here it sounds “flatter”. I can’t really understand that. And it doesn’t affect all samples.
Does anyone know an explanation?
Did you try to match the volumes of both carefully? By far the most crucial thing when comparing sounds.
I will test it - and perhaps i can upload a soundfile if it not works
Do you mean clicking on the pad on the GA interface? If so, these pads are set so that if you click the bottom of the pad the sample is played back softly but if you click the top of the pad the sample is played back at max volume.
Ugh, I think I’ve found the solution and I don’t want to withhold it from you. Depending on whether or not you are in music mode or have activated the corresponding button in Mediabay, the sample may sound slightly different. I haven’t tried the different algorithms yet. I hope the pictures and sound files explain what I mean.
The sound difference stems from time-stretching. That is coming from the Musical Mode in MediaBay, as you already found out. Totally normal and to be expected. Single drum sounds often sound weird when time-stretched.
