'Sampler' option when loading vst plugins

Hi All, I’m using Dorico 6 Pro and EastWest Opus. Is there a way to tell visually when I’m loading a VST in Dorico in the VST rack if I’m loading a v. 3 VST or a v.2 VST? When I go to add a VST for EastWest I always see the following:

I chatted with EastWest online and the support guy he said he had heard that the correct option for VST3 plugins was to select the ‘Sampler’ option, then ‘Opus’, but I don’t want to rely on hearsay. Where is this documented? The support guy for EastWest said ‘it’s not their software’ and they don’t know for sure which is the correct option.

I know most Steinberg users probably already know this, but I obviously don’t so any response would be appreciated.

Just don’t whitelist the VST2 version of Opus. That way only the VST3 version will appear in the list and it avoids confusion. By default it is blocked so you must have manually whitelisted the VST2 version.

Hi @rothvin , @mducharme is absolutely right. If a plug-in is available as VST3 plug-in then only ever that one should be used and the VST2 version blocked. Blocking of VST2 plugs is done via Edit > Preferences and there on the VST Plug-ins tab:
