I have latest version of Cubase Pro 14. On existing projects, ST4 seems to work (plays back already recorded MIDI tracks) but when I try to edit the VSTi, I just get a blank white screen. The ‘wheel’ spins forever and Cubase locks up. The only way to exit is to use Task Manager End Process.
Hi,
It looks like the plug-in’s issue. Get in touch with IK Multimedia support.
So ST4 is working in other programs as well as standalone. After a little experimentation I found that ONLY THE FIRST INSTANCE LOADED in Cubase shows this problem. If I don’t click on the buggered-up window, I can load a second instance that works perfectly. It seems like this started occurring after latest Cubase Pro 14 update.
Using the VST3 version, BTW. Also, I have to leave the buggered-up window open (blocking out most of my screen) because if I click on it, Cubase locks up.
For some reason, Cubase is unable to see the VST2 version of ST4. I have the VST2 option selected in Cubase and have re-scanned many times. It sees all the other VST2 files in that directory. I have re-installed ST4 and still the same problem. Is there a way to point to a specific .dll to be included?
Hi, I have the same issue with ST4 becoming white and freezing Cubase 14 Pro.
Did you find a fix? Thanks !
I found the issue after digging through A POST FROM 2020 !!
I bet you have a dual screen setup right? Well it turns out Cubase can get dummy dummy with opening a VSTi on the second screen , makes it lose its marbles.
The fix is to bring the open VSTi instrument TO THE FIRST SCREEN to open the instrument THERE, then you can move it to the second screen, BUT BUT BUT you HAVE TO bring it back to the first screen to close it, otherwise it’s going white and crash …
Here is the post from 2020 with the details !
What is nuts is that I didn’t have this issue a few weeks ago. Hard to guess which update or install made Cubase flaky…
Martin & friends could you flag this up so this dual screen issue gets looked at? Cheers!
Thanks Antoine-B!
I seem to recall dual monitor issues years ago, but thought that was behind me. This problem just started re-occurring after updating to 14 (it worked in 13, but if I load my files into 13 now, they show the same issue?) I couldn’t use your fix of opening the VSTi in the primary monitor because all my projects “remembered” the instance of that plug being opened in the 2nd monitor, so they automatically open the VSTi there and the problem remains. My solution was to ‘edit’ the VSTi (it opens in the 2nd monitor), drag it over to the primary monitor, then re-save the file (don’t click anywhere on the VSTi window to other than the top edge to drag or it will lock Cubase.) Now when I re-open the file it opens in the primary monitor and all is good. You are a lifesaver, but STEINBERG PLEASE FIX!
Great tip about dragging to primary, got it !
I am very glad we could help each other out
I hope you use this energy to enjoy yourself on your music !!
And yes, COME ON STEINBERG ! I cannot wait for a STRONG UPDATE !
