I just started with Dorico. I’m waiting a piece for unaccompanied SATB choir but when I try to playback it plays an octave lower. How do I get my singers at the right pitch (octave)?
Welcome to the forum, Ralph! We’re definitely going to need more information to figure out what’s going on for you. The best way is if you can post your project here. You may not be able to do that yet since you’re brand new. (Reading some more threads here will get you to Trust Level 1. You can learn more about Discourse here.)
In the meantime, what VST are you using? This is a fresh score created in Dorico, yes? What instruments did you choose in Setup?
Hi Mark,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I’m sorry to lead you to an empty water hole. I chose to discard what I was working on, which was the Sanctus to an a cappella, polyphonic Mass in a minor (I didn’t like what I had written).
I’ve converted the other sections from Finale to Xml format, but still haven’t trnsferred tthem to Dorico (one step at a time). So, I decided to continue with Dorico 5 with the Sanctus. So the “instrumentation” I used was the SATBw/piano template (piano for rehearsal only).
As I was in putting I noticed that the sound was extremely soft. Then, when I wanted to playback what I had written the voices were an octave lower than written and still very soft. The VST (I guess) that I was using was Halion 5(?). Anyway after some fussing around I saw this thing at the bottom of a list that said play 1 ocatave higher. That took care of the pitch, but the audio was terrible.
Anyway, I’ll star over with a new Sanctus and hope that things work out better. If not I’ll send it to you to see what can be done.
