Save a Copy As

In Cubase, how do we duplicate and save a copy of our project and project folder (the whole thing) under a new name? In Logic the function is called “Save a Copy As”.

The only option I see in Cubase is “Back Up Project”…which only backs up the .cpr file and not the audio folder.

“Save a new version” is not it either - that’s about saving a new .cpr file.

Backup project should back up everything including audio, just uncheck the options you don’t want applied.

You are mistaken. This is the function to use. Audio will get copied, too.

This is always a bit of a problem. There are Auto Saves and Backups, whereas a Backup (As triggered by “Back Up Project”) copies the whole projectfolder and sets all used audio-paths accordingly.
Auto Saves on the other hand only copies the projectfile.
Back Up Project should copy everything there is to copy.

Thanks guys!
Yes, I was mistaken. Back up Project is working here - to duplicate and rename an entire project folder.
The mistake I made was that I pasted a bunch of audio files into the the audio folder that was my source project, and I never imported them into the project .cpr file. So, when I did a Back up Project, the audio folder was not copied, because the .cpr did not know any audio files were there.

Interesting. You are right in finding out that Cubase does not actually monitor the project folder. Ie. if you add files on the Explorer/Finder level Cubase will not take note of these files.

If you perform the copying or adding of audio files in Cubase itself (e.g. in the Pool) then it will work ok.

This however is by design. If you handle multiple projects in a folder, each having their own audio and mixdown-files in the same folder, you don’t want to copy the whole audio-folder, containing all audiofiles of all projects to be copied.
Just to add information regarding this.
