Saving/Exporting/Importing Routing and Effect Configuration in Dorico

I have just created a beautiful effect setup for my drum set in Dorico’s play mode. I’d love to use it in other Dorico scores. How can I save, export, and import it?

You can save the project as a Project Template. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SXQa4wmLFs

That’s a great solution when I start a new project from scratch. However, I’d like to use those playback settings in already created projects and templates. Should I assume that this is not possible at this time?

Does this help?

I don’t think so, but maybe someone else knows something I don’t. A workaround might be to create a project template and new projects, export the flows from the old projects and import them into the new. I suspect that would be faster than reconfiguring each existing project.

I agree an integrated export of mixer setup would be nice. One issue with supporting this is the destination mixer channels would have to be a subset of the source mixer channels, which would necessitate resolving the merge issues, either ignore the missing channels or cancel the import altogether. It’s not the good for software to make assumptions there. It could be done, but it’s not a trivial bit of design. Of course, this is no reason not to do it, but just speculation on why we haven’t seen it, yet.

You can create a Playback Template from your project of choice (save the Endpoints and add those to custom Playback Template). You can then apply it to any other project. Just be aware that if your project includes instruments that are not handled by the playback template you will get playback problems.
