Third post. There are several DAWs on iOS that allow for the saving of an instrument (one of the native Steinberg instruments or an AUV) with all of the inserts: Garageband, Grooverider II and Nano Studio. AUM is another option.
At the moment I am mostly working with Gadget as a MIDI sequencer connected to AUM. I like to do all of my sound design in AUM which can then be saved as a channel. So for example, using Verve, I created an AUM channel using AUM’s built in tools for dynamics, EQ and Stereo/Panning. I then added an insert for a Reverb plugin.
I would like to see Cubasis implement this as well, as if this could be done, it would mean I would do more of my sound creation inside Cubasis rather than AUM, and perhaps even do more of my MIDI sequencing in it as well. I find starting new projects and getting the sounds set up a certain way to be a time-consuming and repetitive chore that takes away from the immediacy needed to get ideas going. The request is simple, figure out a way to fit the Insert Effects tab inside the Instrument tab so that, combined, they can be saved as a preset.
On this point, the preset list also needs a Search All, so that when I want a certain preset, I don’t need to go hunting in Micrologue, or Minisampler or Verve or AUV. I would just like to search “pad” or “piano” and get my available list.
Thanks again.
Save a customized project as a template.
In Cubasis this could be called something like ‘Track Presets’.
So when creating a new track one could pick one of the saved ‘Track Presets’.
This should one fairly forward to implement (as long as all the plug-ins used by the track are present on the system where the track-preset is used).
Maybe this is something for @LSlowak to consider for implementation at some point?
In Grooverider II, it is called a Part, as it combines the instrument, FX and mixer settings together.
Project templates are a separate post altogether.
Hi @somniumdigitalmedia
What about creating a project with all your dedicated settings and saving it as a template?
Best,
Lars
Agree here ‘Project Templates’ and ‘Track Templates’ are two completely different things.
Please allow me to speak frankly, with all due respect.
I did not sign up to the Steinberg forums seeking solutions to any problems. I have all the workarounds to keep me busy for a lifetime. Without getting bogged down in the nuances, as a song writer, lots of spontaneous things happen in the moment, and when they happen you just want to press save and deal with the organisation later. The solution I’ve come up with is creating channels in AUM with all my presets saved there. Recording the audio in AUM and then doing whatever linear editing, mixing and mastering in Cubasis, or Logic Pro.
So I am not in need of a solution like project templates. These posts are to provide user feedback and feature requests to sort of nudge the developers in a desired direction for future updates.
Anyway if it’s not part of the design philosophy or it’s not technically possible, I can still live it. I’ve got all the tools enabling me to do whatever I need whenever I need.
AUM, Garageband, Grooverider II, and Nanostudio combine instrument presets with the insert effects.
And these are major selling features that don’t get talked about enough, in my opinion.
