I’m working with audio in .mp4 and .m4a format and trying to save .mrk files alongside. I’m sure this used to be possible when I was working in WL Elements 10, but in 12 I can only seem to get an mrk if I export as a WAV.
If I add markers to an mp4 and hit save, it asks to re-encode the file (which doesn’t seem right as I’ve not made any changes to the audio, and I’m sure it didn’t ask in earlier versions), and then I’m unable to find the marker file.
.mrk file has been deprecated and its use restricted to .wav and .mp3 for historical reasons.
Adding markers in an mp4 is still possible, but it can’t be saved. WaveLab suggesting to save the file in this context, is an error.
Re. deprecating .mrk files, will the option to use them for any file type be removed in future versions of Wavelab? If yes, will there be an alternative way of writing and reading marker information?
