I’m recently unable to export midi files, save track preset or FX chain presets. This is a huge part of my workflow. Now I have to save a complete project just for a single midiloop or fx chain I’ve created.
Latest Cubase Pro 10.5, OS is Mojave 10.14.6 and did repair permissions on all drives.

Could you try in Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?
The menu closes like normal. But nothing is there in the load preset menu or in the media bay. I’ll try safe mode.
I’ve just tried save mode with preferences disabled. Still won’t save…

Doe it mean for the Export MIDI, even the system dialog to set the path doesn’t appear?
Could you try to reinstall Cubase fro the Full Installer, please?
Do I lose preferences etc.? I’ve rerolled to Mojave A few weeks ago and don’t want to do it all over again.

No. While reinstalling Cubase, you don’t lose your preferences. The preferences folder is here:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
This folder will remain.
