Saving track presets from older Cubase versions

Hello everybody,

I want to save track presets (mainly because of selected and configured instrument sounds, in some cases inserts plugins) from projects, which I did with older Cubase versions like Cubase 12 Pro, to use them in the latest version Cubase 14.

What is your recommendation?

Should I open/import those old projects in Cubase 14 to save track presents, or should I rather use Cubase 12 to save presets and just load those presets in Cubase 14 as needed?

Will I lose information in either of those cases?

Did the format / amount of data / content of track presets change over the recent major cubase versions?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards

Hello,

I just updated to Nuendo 13, from Nuendo 11 on a machine I use to mix, and no there is no compatibility for Track Presets between versions, unfortunately, however individual presets for plug-in’s are forward compatible, so you will need to rebuild your Track Presets, from VST Presets, unless I am somehow mistaken.

Edit: I think they are now called FX Chain Presets (as per file extension) but still reference the same file.
