Was really hoping the issue of bass notes displaying too high on the bass clef in the score editor would have been addressed in this update. You used to be able to change the display without affecting the actual pitch before Cubase 14. Since they changed the score editor to be more like Dorico, this has not been possible. The current workarounds are unacceptable, or am I missing something marvelous here in this update ?
I would suggest using the expression map to transpose the result so it still sounds correct. Is that solution not acceptable in your case? You could do this in Cubase 14 too.
I’ve looked at expression maps, and it seems needlessly complex for such a simple task as display transposition. To be honest I haven’t been able to figure out how to do it, and wasted a lot of time trying to figure that “workaround” out.
Making an expression map with one slot (the default slot) is all you need and set the transposition for the slot. It can be done in under 30 seconds.
30 seconds, if you can figure it out . . . and how many instruments do we have to do that for ?
It depends on the library. Dorico assumes that the instrument is mapped to the sounding pitches. if the library is mapped to written instead or is otherwise an octave or two off sounding, it will need to be transposed by the expression map.
