Is there any roadmap for features that are in the works?
Although I’m quite excited from the recent update to the score editor, I need a way to change tuning of the instrument to a custom tuning when using tab notations. It might be a bit niche, but I write notation for 7 string guitars in drop F tuning, and it would be wonderful if I had everything right there in cubase, rather than needing to rely on another tool.
I haven’t yet figured out how to change the note to a different string, or how to add tapping notation, but I think that’s me needing to read the manual closer.
Hi Andreas, welcome to the forum! I’ve taken the liberty to move your post into a new thread, because the other was getting a bit crowded with a mix of different topics.
There is no public roadmap available, though obviously we’ve got plans for the near future, and our internal roadmap and wishlist for the longer term. We don’t discuss those in detail publically, but we’re always interested to hear about what users need for their individual workflow.
Custom tuning for fretted instruments is certainly something we aim to have available in the Score Editor, but I can’t make specific promises as to when that will happen.
You can move notes to a different string with the Cross Staff entries in the Score menu (5 line stave and tab stave must be visible for that currently), or with the key commands “Move To String”, which don’t have a default shortcut set.
We are still considering the best way to make guitar techniques such as hammer-ons, pull offs, tapping available in the Score Editor. In Dorico, you would find the via the ornaments popover or the Guitar Techniques section in the properties panel.
Stefan - I’ve been working on moving notes for guitar tab. It is working pretty good with one minor glitch. Every once in a while when I do the cross staff the note doesn’t move until I toggle the settings–>Instrument–>Presentation.
The cross staff command can currently move notes to other strings only if the notation and tab staves are both showing. This is a shortcoming which we’ll improve in a future release.
The Move to String is a key command, which you’ll have to assign a shortcut to yourself. It’s not available in the menu.
