Steirische Harmonika is a diatonic akkordeon-instument, which is most available in the alps (bavaria, austria, south-tirol, switzerland, …).
There are many players of this instrument scoring the tabulature (called “Griffschrift”) with Finale using a special plugin.
A special keyboard is available and used für inputting notes in finale for this instrument.
After the finale of Finale there is a big need to implement this tabulature-scoring for Steirische Harmonika in a automatic oder half-automatic way.
How can we help you ti implement this special tabulature “Griffschrift”?
Wie already spoke with Markus Hartmann from Steinberg in this case.
Could you point the developers to some resources about the peculiarities of Griffschrift for Steirische Harmonika?
Maybe you could also describe how the plugin worked in Finale and what it provided for you.
I hope it is ok for you that I have added the tag “feature-request” to your posting. I think this will help getting a bit more visibility for the developers.
We’re unlikely to be able to work on this in the very near future, but please post some more details of the requirements of the notation for this instrument and the plug-in you are currently using, and we’ll consider what we might be able to do.
The topic has far-reaching significance. In addition to the countries mentioned by Helmut Scholz, the booming instrument is also widespread in the Czech Republic and Slovenia, for example. In addition to training at music schools, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs are now offered at various music universities. The need for professionally written “handwriting” is continually increasing.
I have been a music teacher for 40 years at the Inzell Music School, which has been one of the first to introduce the Diat. Harmonica as a subject. That’s why I can say that the Diat. Harmonica has been becoming more and more popular for many years and has partly replaced the accordion. This is also due to the fact that it is a little easier to learn at the beginning and you get a sense of achievement more quickly. This is especially true for adults.
For learning – especially in self-study – the „Griffschrift“ is an essential aid, comparable to a guitar tablature, since the different tunings of the instrument allow playing according to conventional notes only via detours, namely transposing.
That’s why I developed the input module for „Griffschrift“ more than 20 years ago with a technician friend, which assigns in „Finale“ the desired note heads midi tones with the help of a special percussion table and places them in the tablature at the desired location.
It would be very desirable if such a possibility were also created in Dorico. I would also be willing to help with the development with my experience.
