Screen dimming all the time

Does anyone find that their screen dims all the time while working? I have this issue and have tried everything that chat GPT has suggested but this still happens… Thanks for any suggestions…

Hi,

it is impossible to help you without any further information:
Computer specs, OS, graphic card, when does it happen, how can you tell etc…

BTW: Chat GPT gives you answers that sound good. Doesn’t mean that they are any good. More often than not Chat GPT isn’t helping - it makes more sense to search this forum via an external search engine.

Thanks,
AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-Core Processor 3.50 GHz
M.2 drives
32GB RAM
Windows11 version 24H2, all updates done
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with 8GB
Vizion OLED (I couldn’t find anything in the settings that could be causing this)

I just do not know where to look to figure this out.
It seems to happen when I am just working on a song.
After about 5-10 minutes, I’ve never timed it, it just dims. I have to right click on the task bar or click on a desktop icon to get it to brighten back up again.

Thanks for the info.

Have you checked in the Windows Task Manager if there is another application other than Cubase which is running in the background and checks in and takes away the primary focus from Cubase after 5 to 10 minutes?

What have you tried so far? This way we can further narrow the problem down.

Sounds like you’ve got an adaptive brightness thing going on.
Check your windows display settings.

I gather this is happening regardless of what software you’re using at the time or is it just a Cubase thing?

Could your monitor be past it’s best?

I do not seem to have “adaptive brightness in my PC settings… I have looked several times.
Also, I have a VIZIO OLED 85” tv…there are no settings that I can find that causes the brightness to dim.
Yes, it happens no matter what program I am using. It doesn’t go to sleep, it just dims. If I click on the bottom screen popup or on an icon on my desktop, it brightens back up…

I am not familiar with how to identify background programs that would take away the brightness for the monitor. Do you have any suggestions on where to learn more about this?

Probably this:

  • **[ASBL] ([Auto Static Brightness Limiter]

This is a specific type of dimming that occurs when static content is displayed for a period of time, further reducing brightness to prevent burn-in.

VIZIO does not provide a way to disable these dimming features, even through the service menu. The company prioritizes the long-term health of the OLED panel by maintaining these protective measures.

This occurs when I am actively editing in Cubase with my mouse thought…
If I am watching a video on YouTube, the same thing happens.
If I am working on a document, the same thing happens…

I will go down the rabbit hole of the ASBL, however, and see if there is anything there…
