SDA showing huge download for "missing" content?

Case in point:

I wouldn’t mind installing that, but what is it?

B.

Have a look in your downloads folder and there in the Steinberg subfolder. What is in there? If you could make a file listing…?

Hi, I just got a confirmation that you should not install that stuff. The thing is, it’s a bug in the SDA or somewhere and Dorico users shall not install those 18 GB worth of sound files. We are working on a fix and then Dorico users won’t see it any more.

Sorry for the confusion

This should now be resolved: Fixed Steinberg Download Manager issue - #2

If you close and reopen Steinberg Download Assistant, it will update the library manager which contains the fix.

What do you advise, please, for those of us who have already installed all three sets?

Well over 50 Gb. Took several hours?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry about that!

The sounds will have downloaded to the Downloads/Steinberg folder of your user account. If you find that folder is empty, then you might need to open the Steinberg Library Manager application and delete anything which you don’t want (e.g. Anima, Eagle, Skylab, Studio Strings, Hot Brass etc.)

No problem. Things happen

I expect it’s meaning a lot of work for you. Good luck!

Yes, the SDA installed everything after each of the three downloads. (As it should.)

So no actual ‘harm’ (contentions, collisions, corruptions etc) has been done?

I just have libraries which I would never use and/or don’t want?

Is that correct, please?

If in each case (Halion and Groove Agent) I sort by Date I see what was installed on October 15.

And I can just delete everything which - in effect - I’m never likely to use.

Yes?

Thanks again!

Hi @MarkSealey,

right, you can delete all sound contents files that you installed on that day.

Thanks, Ulf!

Will they not work with Dorico?

Unless you have a license for them.

@ulf,

Aha. Now I see. I don’t.

Thanks!

@Ben_at_Steinberg , @Ulf

In case it helps, I opened SDA today and more new ‘Install Missing VST Sounds’ repeatedly appeared… 1.90 GB/FCP_SMT_142_GA_Vintage_Kit.vstsound; FCP_SMT_147_GA_Vintage_Kit_Eco.vstsound; SMT_001_Vintage_Kit_Presets.vstsound (Vintage Kit, Studio Kit) etc

In this case I did download and install each one each time; then used Library Manager to delete them each time.

But they keep coming back every time I relaunch SDA.

Is there a way to remove spurious downloads like this directly from SDA, please?

Good luck in rectifying this  .

Hi @MarkSealey - those sound like genuine updates to the Groove Agent sounds. The size of the download seems a lot more appropriate too.

Thanks very much, @Ben_at_Steinberg!

Yes, they have stopped re-appearing in the SDA.

So I have left them installed.

Your help much appreciated!
