Most sheet music I prepare does not go the “long way round”

To Coda [Coda Symbol]
Dal Segno [Segno Symbol] al Coda
[Coda Symbol] Coda
but favors the shorthand style of
[Segno Symbol]
[Coda Symbol]
[Segno Symbol]
[Coda Symbol]

I’d love to see an option to make this the default. Or am I missing something?
You can do this. Just change the options on the Repeat Markers page of Engraving Options to make e.g. both the “to Coda” and the Coda itself have the same appearance.

to just display the symbol?
That one, it turns out, you cannot change via Engraving Options. So you’ll have to use the ‘Hide’ property and then insert a segno sign using Shift+Alt+X system-attached text for that one.
