After importing a MusicXML file the dynamics in the score editor appear as regular dynamics instead of mapped dynamics. Is there a way to change this without going through the whole score and changing each dynamic individually?
I just opened a thread on the same issue and am sorry to see that you did not get an answer either. The very limited implentation of MusicXML in DAW environments seems to have been accepted by the communities.
It would indeed be great if you could copy the dynamic text indications generated by MusicXML in the project layer. On the other hand some textual articulation markings like pizz. are interpreted correctly. So why Dynamic text markings are not is not clear.
Another aspect is slurs. Dots and other singular markings like - for tenuto or spiccato are interpreted correctly but slurs do not evoke legato.
Work in progress but not very much🌝
Hello this is really important issue for me - is there any progress on a fix, or any filter/replace type function which could be used in this situation? Eg, to find all existing imported dynamics, and bulk change them to the required dynamic mapping type?
No positive development. At least not in version 13 as I have not updated yet. In Dorico also a Steinberg product the dynamics from an MusicXML are imported correctly. So one could say it is in fact a bug on the implementation of MusicXML import in Cubase.
Unfortunately the bug correction or even recognition for Cubase contrary to Dorico is erratic to say the least.
By the way a work around is to prepare your score in Dorico and then export midi and import midi in Cubase. When you then use the same libraries and expression maps in Cubase as in Dorico you will have all articulations, dynamics and eventual other CC’s you automated in Dorico in Cubase.
Thanks for your insight - I will explore this option further.
