Select only one note beyond cursor

Hello there!

I’ve been setting up my own shortcuts/key commands for a computer keyboard workflow. I try to avoid mouse as much as possible. I’m almost there, but there’s a tiny thing i’ve not figured out:

Lets say i have a midi part both with single notes and chords. What i want is being able to navigate using the cursor & select a single note “beyond cursor”. (I want only one note selected even if there is several more afterwards at the same pitch).

And if there’s a chord, i want to select “beyond cursor” only the lowest note in the chord. (And only the lowest note nearest to the cursor).

I’ve tried some stuff with the midi logical editor. But all i get to is that it select “all” the lowest notes beyond the cursor. I’ve also tried the “under cursor” option, and that works pretty good. Except i have to be over the events to select them. If i’m navigating to the start of the events using the cursor (with grid), it only selects the events sometimes.

So in other words: Is it possible to somehow select “one” note beyond the cursor using a key command?

Hi,

I would go for the Select under Cursor. Then, of you are even at the start of the Note, it becomes selected.

I’m afraid, your request is not possible to achieve.

Could you please describe your workflow more in details? How do you move/nudge the Cursor? Does it jump over the notes or does it jump by time-based value?

Hi Martin!

I move the cursor by the grid value. (Nudge cursor Left/Right).

I tried the “select under cursor”, but got some weird results. For example, the selection works with the cursor infront of a C-4 note at position 1 . 1 . But if i position another C-4 note at position 1 . 2 and move the cursor before (at the start) of that note, the selection does not work? I’m not sure if i missed something?
