Selecting groups of notes

I am trying to select groups of notes across multipe bars to move to a new divisi part. When I press command and then create a marquee selection, it selects all of the notes instead of just the ones that I circle. Is there a way to just target say all of the lower notes in the chords?

See Edit → Filter → Notes in Chords. I believe you are after Bottom Notes or Single Notes.
