Selection Feathering

Is there a way to smooth processing I do to a selection to avoid clicks? In RX, it’s know as selection feathering and it defaults to 20ms to avoid adding in clicks. Also, is there a paste to selection command?

You can use the declick module (that is what it is there for). You can also try higher fade selections settings.

@Damian_Kearns There are multiple ways to feather/fade a selection in SpectraLayers.
The first one is increasing the Time Fade or Frequency Fade value (or reduce the Hardness value) of the tool you’re using to do a selection:

The second way is to draw your selection shape, and before releasing the mouse, right-click to adjust the time fade/frequency fade:

The third way is to use the Selection Fade tool on an existing selection:

The fourth way is to go to Select > Modify Selection… dialog:

Do you know how to use the selection modes?
Replace, Add, Subtract, Intersect which needs to be set before mousing out a selection…default is Replace

@Robin_Lobel also the Selection Fade and Selection Sharpen tools to add to your multiple ways to set fades

As far as right mouse tap to get the slider to appear in right-click context menu, I find that move very hit and miss and always just go straight to the Selection Fade and Selection Sharpen tools because they are fast

Thanks so much!

Hi,

I have tried this out but it’s not fixing the clicks I’m experiencing when I try apply certain processes to a selection. I’ve done a screen grab which shows an offset happening with a VST3 plugin.

Wait for SL 11.0.40 next monday, and use SL DeClick module instead of RX De-Click module, that should probably do what you need.

this video embed doesn’t work for me…transport controls don’t work; just black

I copied the address and watched directly

I can’t say I understand what is happening in the video with the selection hopping around

personally I DeClick before putting audio in SL…there is sooooo much more to do in SL than DeClick from my POV

Well, basically, the audio is printing later than the original spot when I use Mouth De-Click as a VST3. I agree there are lots of ways to skin a cat in SL, but VST plugins ought to print the audio without a delay. At least, this is the hope.
