Hi - I have a simple question - I think… I have Cubase Artist 10.5, and want to send cc and program change MIDI commands from Cubase to an external effects processor at specific points in a song. Seems like it should be easy to do, but I can’t seem to find instructions on how to do this. I can receive MIDI commands into Cubase from the processor, just can’t make it the other way around… Can anyone help?
Have you tried just adding a MIDI track and setting the output routing in the inspector to the MIDI device your external processor is connected to?
Thank you for replying so quickly. I have tried this, but now how do I write the commands that I want to send to the processor into the track? I’m sorry if this is a simple issue, but I am new to Cubase and am on a steep learning curve. I do appreciate your assistance.
You need to create a new midi part on the midi track (with the pencil tool), then double click that to open the midi key editor. In there, you can draw midi controller data in the controller display area (Controller Display).
For program change and patch select I cannot really help you, but there is a whole section in the manual about external MIDI devices (Using MIDI Devices).
That worked - thank you VERY much…!
