Separating Flows

Although the full score has a title for each flow, the parts do not. In the image, a new flow starts at the key change, but there is no indication this is the second flow. What is worse is that I need to send a violinist the second flow, but don’t know how. When I go to Print and select the second flow under Job Type, the pdf just omits the first page and prints the end of flow 1 and the start of flow 2, again with no break or indication.

I am uneducated on layouts and don’t know how to fix this. Thanks.

This is an image for English Horn, but it shows the problem: flow 2 just starts in the middle of the page with no break or title.

I can send the violinist the part for both flows and tell her to ignore certain measures, but that is not an elegant solution.

If you want Flow Headings, then you have to turn them on in the Part Layouts. (You can select more than one Layout at a time.)

Printing Flows doesn’t create a new layout – it just prints the pages with that Flow on, including any other music from other flows.

I selected all the parts under Layouts, and the options look like this:

Even though it says to start flows on a new page, that is not happening.

… and that’s for the Layout you’re looking at?

… and there’s no Page Overrides on those pages?

For whenever you might want to take the deeper dive (I found these really helpful! Just remember that the older language of “Master Pages” has since been changed to “Page Templates.”):
