Hi, I’m using Cubase Pro 13 with various VST2/VST3 plugins (Steinberg, Arturia, NI, Ujam, Roland…) and everything works without problems.
The only problem is with the Serum plugin - I can play and record, but when I send the cursor to the beginning of the song / to the locator / to the marker during playback, Cubase crashes (see attached video). Sometimes it happens immediately, sometimes after a few cursor moves.
Everything is updated and legal, all other plugins work without problems. I tried Serum VST2_64 and VST3, but it didn’t help.
Thanks for any advice.
Deleting the presets folder and having the full installer recreate the folder helped a bit here at least with all the database troubles but it’s been pretty bad since Cubase 12. At least here most of the crashes seem to be UI related and we don’t even use a skin. Ended up moving to Phase Plant and never looked back since.
I’ve experienced Serum crashing my Cubase Pro v13 many times aswell. For me it seems to be more of a issue with the VST3 version rather than the VST2 version.
My Cubase crashes with both - VST2 and VST3. But only when moving the cursor to different positions (start, markers, locations) during playback. Otherwise I can play and record normally. So, I just prefer to stop playback before moving the cursor. Then there is no problem.
So in principle I can live with it, it just annoys me. Because I don’t have this problem with other plugins. And Serum wasn’t cheap.
I want to try the C14 trial to see if it will works.
That’s weird, mine seems ok with the cursor and positions. Mine will just randomly crash and close Cubase pretty randomly, however I did notice a bit of a pattern where adjusting the “Bins” in the wavetable editor seems to lead to crashes. That’s the main thing i’ve noticed with my situation.
OK, I tried it on C14. It didn’t crash like C13, but the traditional “serious problem has occurred” message appeared and the program froze. I’m attaching the DMP file. Cubase 14.0.10 64bit2025.2.6 20.07.19.182.dmp (699.6 KB)
So C12 works, C13 crashes, and C14 freezes
I can do a clean install of Windows, but first I’ll wait if @Martin.Jirsak finds anything in the DMP files.
