Setting New Bar 1 at a Specific Locator Position

Hello everyone,

I need help setting a new Bar 1 in my Cubase project. I’ve placed my locator around Bar 4 and 5, but not exactly at a beat marker—it’s in between. I want this precise locator position to become Bar 1. I’ve tried using the “Project Setup” to adjust the bar offset, but it only accepts whole numbers and doesn’t fit my needs since my position isn’t on a whole bar.

Is there a way to set this specific location as Bar 1, similar to how “Set Timecode at Cursor” works but for beats and bars?

Thanks.

Get it roughly right by adding bars, changing the time signature to add beats or starting the project at negative bar numbers then use the warp function and drag the bar to that point of your cursor?

There’s probably a simpler way.

Why not move all the events in the project so the spot you want is at a bar line?

… or building on the suggestion by @steve :

insert a precise amount of silence into the project

Hello @Steve,
Thanks for the suggestion. Simple, straightforward, and very effective.

Hi and thanks . I think i will stick with Steve’s solution

Hey Mr. @cubasened , thank you for asking the same thing I was asking. Not sure if you still have the need of “offsetting” the bar.

For that, it’s pretty simple and different than doing with Set Timecode at Cursor.

In order to change the Bar count start position, you just need to go to Project > Project Setup… and then in the Project Setup window you have the Display Bar Offset field which has the default value of 0.

There you just add the number of Bars you have to push forward to make the Bar 1 in the position you need!
