Hi
So, I wanted to create a few sound effects in Wavelab 12 Pro, but then I find out that the following Steinberg insert effects are missing:
Bitcrusher, Grungelizer, Chopper, Metalizer, and RingModulator
What’s the reason for that?

Steinberg considers them out of scope for WaveLab.
Out of scope? Not sure what that means, but it sounds like a rather arbitrary limitation on their part, which is kind of ironic. Because, first of all, AFAIK any other 3rd party insert plugins are supposed to work in WL. And second, WL is already pretty limited compared to Cubase, since you can’t really make music in it in the same way.
And wouldn’t WL be more suited for sound design compared to Cubase? Because this is where any insert effect can be useful.
One would think that these two programs are like siblings that are supposed to compliment each other, instead of taking away from each other.
Dom Sigalas made a video called “Why Is Wavelab The Best Audio Editor | Mastering for Beginners”. He should have called it “The Best Audio Editor, except that Steinberg randomly decided to take away a few features that would actually make it the best audio editor”
This is just silly, imo.
Simply said: All plugins made by Steinberg should be available to all Steinberg products (if technically feasible, of course). At least, when one buys the full “pro” versions…
Wavelab isn’t a Steinberg made product and the applications aree different. Also a lot of people using Wavelab aren’t Cubase or Nuendo users.
As a simple minded customer, I don’t care. The payment goes to Steinberg. So Steinberg is the head of everything here.
Too many excuses, none of them matter. I own Cubase 15 Pro and I have access to all of those plugins. Not letting me use them in another Steinberg product is a long finger to my face.
