It’s not working. You have Windows or macOS?
Maybe this is because I have general problem with playback. E. g. if I create violin, Dorico don’t attache the sound from Halion Symphonic library, but “First contact” sound (synthethiser). I have to do it manualy. Some instruments (like piano) has proper sounds, some hase “first contact” sound, and some - none.
In the another topic someone has the same problem. The solution was supposed to be delete whole VSTAudioEngine folder and relunch Dorico. But it’s not working. I have to try reinstal the Dorico.
In your case, Del_Gesu, it sounds like you have installed HSSE2, but you’ve not installed HALion Symphonic Orchestra. If you still have Steinberg Download Assistant installed, you should run it and make sure you have downloaded and installed Dorico Playback 2 – Orchestral Library, as shown in the attached screenshot.
I’ve installed HALion Symphonic Orchestra and I could choose from the list in HALION SONIC SE2 instruments from HALion Symphonic Orchestra library (I see it in Search results, there is a list cadegorised by “library name”). But the instrument sounds don’t load when I create new instrument. I have to do it manualy. When I change, in HAlion SE2 instrument sound to e.g. violin and after this I press „Apply default playback template…”, it’s comming back to „First contact” sound. It seems, that Dorico has wrong default template.
Today I completely reinstalled Dorico and the issue still appears.
The good news is that now, after reinstalation I see Sforzando player in VST instruments. I put in whitelist only: „sforzando”. And it works (it didn’t work before reinstallation).
Sounds really weird.
Would you please do the following: Stop Dorico and start anew. When the hub window appears, choose the Chamber > String trio template to start a new project.
Then HALion Sonic shall load the 3 instruments Violin Solo Combi, Violoa Solo Combi, Violoncelli A Combi. If that does not for you, then please do it manually.
After this, choose from the main menu the item Help > Create Diagnostic Report. That will create a zip file on your desktop containing log data. Please send it to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de
