Shift+M or N on Single Line Percussion Instruments

Dear Dorico users,

I’m currently working on a project with many woodblocks, each set up as a separate one-line percussion staff to allow for different text and rhythmic variation for the speaker. Unfortunately, I’m unable to move notes between these single-line woodblock staves using Shift+M or N.

The same commands work perfectly between piano staves or between the staves of woodwind instruments, but not between woodblock staves.

Am I missing something, or is this a limitation of single-line percussion staves?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try just m or n? (if the wood-blocks belong to the same player) I was never shift n or m but alt/opt n or m,

I believe it’s a limitation with unpitched percussion staves. Copy(cut)/paste does work though.

It wont work, as all of them belong to a separate players.

Yes, it is, unfortunately. I do not understand why this limitation exists when the instrument is not part of a drum kit.

I have found a solution:

  1. Library → Instruments

  2. Edit Instruments

  3. Duplicate a pitched instrument (e.g. Flute).

  4. In the duplicate, change Staff Type = 1-line staff.

  5. Save.

  6. Add this custom instrument to your player.

Hi @mipi, the command Paste Special>Swap works nicely in this case (where you have unpitched percussion on different players). Maybe it could be useful for your needs (and no need to edit/change the instruments, loosing so the correct playback). You can assign an alias for the Jumpbar (S for example) for the first time you invoke the command, for the subsequent times it will remember the last command, so you just need J+Enter:
