For some reason all the notes in my projects are now being played back staccato.
I usually write my musical sketches/ ideas on a single instrument, a piano.
I don’t know whats happened but all the notes, reguardless of duration, are playing back as very short detached staccato.
I’ve tried resetting dorico to factory reset and even reinstalled dorico and halion sonic, but the problem persists in all my projects.

Hi @Bernard_Dembowski, did you try to make a Select All in Write mode, then go to menu Play and choose Reset Playback Overrides?
Which Playback Template are you using? Did you try also to reapply the Playback Template (from menu Play > Playback Template…).
If this doesn’t help, please upload you Dorico file here, to see what is going on.

I opened your file and hit Export / Audio without making any edits or changes at all. Here’s what it sounds like to me:

Hi Christian. FYI I exported a MIDI file of this projest and it plays correctly when imported to a DAW. So the problem must be with Dorico’s playback or Halion sonic.

Yes that’s how it should sound but my playback is very staccato. all the notes are detached semiquavers .
I get the same result as @FredGUnn - No problem at all.
Something very strange is happening. If I export the tune as a WAV file, It plays correctly in windows media player. So I’m thinking, because I’m having this problem with all my Dorico projects, I need to check my audio driver and devices.
Apart from your playback being staccato I don’t know if this relates to your situation, but here is a quote from my post to a thread in January 2024:

I had the same playback results as what you described. It was caused by my having downloaded and installed Iconica Sketch as soon as it became available, that is, a couple of weeks (if my memory is correct) before the Dorico 5.1 update. I thought that I would be really clever and use this new functionality early. Well, I wasn’t really that clever as it turns out.
I assume that the Dorico 5.1 update also included the expression map for Iconica Sketch, because playback using Iconica Sketch worked properly after I had installed the Dorico 5.1 update, including Iconica Sketch.

I’ve downloaded and installed the latest driver for my ancient focusrite usb-2 interface. The playback is now playing correctly.
