When I playback my piece, up to 5 measures of the two brass instruments goes silent. No problem before that spot or after. HELP!
What do you need me to upload?
I have tried restarting Dorico and restarting my computer…
The first thing coming into my mind: the silent notes may be out of the range of that instrument.
No. They are in range and played in many earlier playbacks.
Select one of the notes which is silent and have a look in Properties to see if playback has been suppressed.
Where in properties would I see that?
Thanks. There is nothing active (blue) in Common, on any of those notes.

If you could upload some bars of your project? May be cut it down to 15 bars, covering that bit - Use a copy of your project, of course…
Which specific instruments are going silent?
Before I upload anything, a few more bits of evidence:
a) the two brass parts play normally if I use the “control + spacebar” to force manual play
b) the two brass parts play normally using regular (automatic) playback if I temporarily cut out the parts of the other instruments (strings) playing at that time, but fail to play when I paste the other parts back in underneath them.
Does this inspire any ideas?
This sounds weird. I have never heard of such an occurrence. Best, if you would upload those critical bars.
Just experimented more. Eliminated dynamics from the two brass parts in those measures and then added the dynamics back in. Problem SEEMS to be solved. I still have no idea why it happened. If it recurs, I’ll upload the offending measures and let y’all examine them. Thanks for your help. Bizarre…
It is quite possible, that you had a gradual dynamic, like a decrescendo which (invisibly) reached into those bars.
Next time please upload a part of your project (as recommended), so we can save on the guesswork.
While there was a decrescendo in the last measure, I shape all my crescendos and decrescendos in the key editor, so I know that wasn’t the problem.
But yes to uploading to save on guesswork next time.
