I know in Dorico that I can hide dynamics by ticking “hide intensity mark”.
Is there something similar to hide lines in the parts but show in the conductors score.
Like here, I use a timebased notation instead of classical rhythmical. I want to show the conductor, that these two notes should be together, so I add a vertical line so he can give the players a sign.
However, the players, of course, do not need this line, but just a marking reminding them to watch the conductor carefully in this part and maybe an add to play with another instrument.
Is there a way to easily only show the line in the conductors score but not in the parts?
Vertical lines are strange beasts. They only “exist” on a single staff, but you can stretch them on different layouts to other staves.
So, create your vertical line on the top/bottom instrument. Use Engrave to stretch it in the Full Score. Then Scale it to 1% in the part layout for the instrument you created it in. It will only appear in the Full Score.
For what it’s worth, Dorico will have a native solution for this kind of “coordination” line in a future version, so you won’t need to muck around with vertical lines in this way. The use case shown here, where the line needs to join two different instruments, was not one that we intend to be supported by the current vertical lines feature.
