Here’s a little aggravation: all I want is to have a comma after the metronome marks, e.g., q=90, Jazz Waltz.
I tried Ms google’s solution, followed step by step:
To insert a comma after a tempo mark in Dorico, you can use the tempo popover (Shift-T) to input the tempo mark and then add a comma and any additional text you need.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
- Access the Tempo Popover:
In Write mode, press Shift-T or choose “Write > Create Tempo” to open the tempo popover.- Input the Tempo Mark:
Enter the tempo mark you want (e.g., “Q=100” for quarter note equals 100) directly into the popover.- Add a Comma and Text:
After entering the tempo mark, add a comma and any additional text you want to include (e.g., “Q=100, andante”).- Confirm and Place:
Click “Create” or press Enter to insert the tempo mark with the comma and text into your score.
I also read this:
To insert a comma after a metronome mark in Dorico, select the metronome mark, access the properties panel, and add the comma to the “Tempo (bpm)” value field, then save your changes.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
- Select the Metronome Mark: In either Write or Engrave mode, click on the metronome mark you want to edit.
- Access Properties Panel: The Properties panel should appear, showing the metronome mark’s settings.
- Edit the Tempo (bpm) Value: In the “Tempo” group, find the “Tempo (bpm)” field and enter the desired value with a comma after it (e.g., “120,”).
- Save Changes: Press Return or click outside the value field to save your changes.
If you replace the zeros after the 90, they just revert to the 4 0s when you leave the Tempo (bpm) “90.0000” value field.
Both solutions seem simple enough, but neither of them works.
This ain’t really mission critical at this point, but I’ll have a lot of these little duets to typeset in the near future. That will mean I’ll have to export svgs, add the commas in Illustrator. Multiple sorrow.
Any suggestions?
Let me know,
Thanks, Bill
