@VincePescod
100%, and at this stage, I would urge everyone experiencing this to log the issue with Steinberg Support, or raise a ticket directly via MySteinberg.
Usually they donāt reply to the ticket. Honestly - Steinberg support is terribleā¦
So, I really donāt know what I need to do.
Does anybody know who can help here on forum? I know that Martin but his on Cubase mostlyā¦
@Philippe_Bono can you help with this strange situation? I donāt change anything. Itās just stop showing in GA5. And I am in Cubase 14 on Mac
try this one, thats the only thing helped me to solve the issue.
as i dont have MAC, maybe try to find the same file āmediabay3ā in mac in āSteinberg MediaBay Serverā folder only
NOTE:(there might be other āmediabay3ā files in cubase folder etc.. dont delete those)
Thanks. But this is really strange way to solve the problem⦠![]()
Especially on Macā¦
yes indeed, but it worked for me on windows, im not sure if its the same fix for MAC. maybe worth the try
i am on mac. just sharing in case it helps.
what did happen to me at some point a few years ago was was i had all these werid issues with GA5 and SP drums after an update. i canāt recall exactly what led to this problem.
when I took a closer look in the media bay directory, I noticed that all the SPD files were sym links to the files in downloads folder where the actual SPD content files were. All other files were the actual files of the content. i manually removed the sym links and moved the SPD content files into the media bay directory and fixed up the permissions and ownerships to match the other content files in the directory. ever since then i have not any any problems.
Oh, ok. Thanks for the comment. Impved the all libraries of Steinberg Absol 6 to another SSD disk btw. So honestly donāt know what I need to do in this way. And itās so strange that Steinberg donāt help here as well! Once again - their support is terrible ![]()
At least if enough people log the issue, it may get attention. You canāt win the lotto if you donāt buy a ticket.
Hi Alexander_D,
Please get in contact with our support department. I just asked them, but they didnāt find a ticket associated to your email address. Please let me know as soon as you sent the request.
Did you already reset the Media Bay preferences?
Cheers,
Jan
Hello Jan. Thanks for be in touch. How I can reset the media bay references? And I need to open the ticket in my Steinberg account, right?
Hi Alexander_D,
Please follow these steps to reset the MediaBay preferences:
WIN
⢠Close all programs.
⢠Open the āRunā command by pressing the Windows logo key + R.
⢠In the āRunā window, type the following path: AppData.
⢠Navigate to the folder: Local\Steinberg.
⢠Locate the folders: āMediaServices,ā āSteinberg MediaLib,ā and āSteinberg MediaBay Server.ā
⢠Rename all these folders (e.g., to āx_Steinberg MediaBay Serverā) to hide them.
The next time you start the program, new folders with fresh preference files will be created, which often resolves the issue.
Mac OS
Please recreate the preferences of the MediaBay. To do this, click on āGoā in the Finder menu. Press the āOptionā key on your keyboard while the menu is open. This adds the āLibraryā entry, which can now be selected. In the Library, open the āPreferencesā folder.
Now rename the folders āSteinberg MediaBay Serverā and āSteinberg MediaLibā under ā/Users//Library/Preferences/ā as follows:
āx_Steinberg MediaLibā
āx_Steinberg MediaBay Serverā
Upon the next program start, these folders will be recreated, which often resolves the issue.
A support request can be opened in your MySteinberg Account, right.
Cheers,
Jan
Thanks. Will try this method for sure.
BTW whe the new folders will be automatically created can I remove these folders? x_Steinberg MediaLibā āx_Steinberg MediaBay Server
This method worked for me! Thank you very much! As I can understand, now I can remove the renamed folders in Preferences, right?
Thanks Jan this worked for me too - SP Jazz Drums Kit now shows - many thanks Vince
Just updated to GA6, and guess what? Simon Phillips Jazz Drums is gone missing again. ![]()
The workaround is to open MediaBay in Cubase/Nuendo, find the library location in the left-hand panel, right-click and select āRescan diskā. I donāt know how people without Cubase/Nuendo are going to solve this with only the standalone ā¦
I just followed the recommendataion from @Jan_Riesener and moved the Media directories away. After restarting GA 6 everything is back again, without opening Cubase or Nuendo.
Tried that now, thanks, that works too!
I upgraded to GA6 and my SP Jazz drums is seen fine.
