New user coming from Finale. In Finale, if I want to say, enter a bunch of quarter note G’s, I enter the 1st one and then pressing enter enters a second one and so on. If I want to do a bunch of G’s then switch to A’s, I simply use the up arrow to make the next note an A. These 2 methods don’t work on Dorico or am I missing something? What is the quickest way to enter successive notes?
Welcome to the forum @spencer_tim!
During Note Input (with caret active) you can just select the letters via your computer keyboard and press away.
If you just want to select a note and repeat it, select it and press R.
To change the pitch of an existing note, press Alt+up or down. This is intentionally specific so that you don’t inadvertently change the pitch (like Finale and Sibelius).
So, you could: Enter a G > press R a million times > when you want to change the note to A, press Alt+up arrow…
Just select the note and press R to repeat it. To change the pitch use alt+up or down arrow keys. (@DanielMuzMurray was faster, and more precise )
Thank you both for the quick responses - makes sense - thanks.
