I have been using Cubasis on Ipad since 2015. I have been using Samson go USB mic so far. The combination worked very well for me.
Since I needed to record more tracks simultaneously , I bought UR22C Audio interface recently. I expected that since both cubasis and UR22C are Steinberg products, they should work perfectly well.
However, it is nor working out. The sound on headphone when connected to audio interface is coming out weird- delayed-not clear. Same sound when I connect directly to IPAD comes perfectly well. I have used USB 3 connecter which came with UR22C with Apple (original) lightening to usb adapter. I have IPAD (7th Generation) Model no. MW772HN/A. Cubasis version is 2.8.6. IOS version is 16.5.1.
Post the use of Audio interface, in lot of existing projects, random midi notes are not sounding. Means notes are there, and highlight while playing . But no sound comes.
Need help urgently on this.
Hi @abhijeet_r
Thanks for your message!
Cubasis for iOS fully supports using class compliant audio interfaces, such as the Steinberg UR22C.
Please make sure to follow the setup example in the “Using with an iOS Device” chapter of the UR22C help:
In addition you may also check the UR-C series firmware section on the Steinberg website:
In regards to Cubasis, please give the following steps a try:
- Load the “Empty” projec template
- Close all running apps (including Cubasis)
- Fully shut down the iPad
Does Cubasis works as expected with the UR22C, once the iOS device and the app have been relaunched?
Thanks
Lars
Hi.
Thanks for guiding. HAve tried the steps for Cubasis. It was not able to solve the skipping notes. Request further help. Will check about audio interface tonight.
Hi @abhijeet_r
It was not able to solve the skipping notes.
I suggest to experiment with the “Hardware Latency” and “Polyphony” settings (both located on Setup/Audio).
Hope that helps!
Best,
Lars
Hi.
That worked. Now evth is playing fine. Thanks. I have ordered a new lightening to usb cable from Apple. Once I receive it, will try with ur22c as you have suggested.
Hope that works too.
Hi @abhijeet_r,
You may also check, that Cubasis has access to the mic, following these steps:
Starting Cubasis the very first time, a popup asking your permission to use the microphone appears, which has to be accepted.
If you tapped “no” by accident, please change the setting manually as follws:
- Please go to the iPad settings
- There please go to Privacy / Microphone
- Please make sure to enable Microphone use with Cubasis.
Best,
Lars
Hi
Further to the issue we discussed. I have got the UR22C replaced, assuming that there is some issue with the piece I have. With the replacement , Headphone is working properly. There was still issue about playback from cubasis not playing correctly.
Later on , when I connected a different power supply, the problem went away. So probably problem was with power supply. Can you please let me know exactly what power supply specs are required? It will be good if this can be mentioned somewhere in manual or description.
Thanks.
Hi @abhijeet_r,
Thank you for updated message, glad to read that you’ve able to fully resolve the issues.
Since I am managing Cubasis for Steinberg, I’m unable to answer your UR22C power supply question, but will forward it to the team.
Best,
Lars
Hi @abhijeet_r,
Here comes the feedback from the team:
From the manual, page 5: Use a USB power adapter or USB mobile battery that can supply power in compliance with USB standards with a 5- pin micro USB plug. Output voltage 4.8 V to 5.2 V Output current 0.9 A or greater.
Hope that helps!
Best,
Lars
Thank you. Got it. One more query if you can help with. Studio monitors are very expensive, and presently I do not want to buy them. I have Sony speakers with the specs as enclosed. Can I use them ? I am ok if the voice quality is not so good, as this is a temporary arrangement. I only want to ensure that using these speakers will not damage ur22c.
Thanks.
Hi @abhijeet_r,
Thanks for your message.
This is the Cubasis forum, where we discuss and try to support our users having issues with Cubasis best possible.
Please make sure to head over to the hardware forum, to discuss your UR-realted topics!
