SL One instead 9 Pro after license upgrade

If all you have is an unexpired 25-hour All Applications licence on your eLicenser, then that will enable SpectraLayers Pro 8 until the time runs out. You cannot upgrade that licence to SpectraLayers Pro 9 because you don’t own SpectraLayers Pro 8, just an unexpired emergency licence for all applications. In this instance, you need to request a refund for your SpectraLayers update and buy a full SpectraLayers Pro 9 licence.

If you have a SpectraLayers Pro 8 licence on an eLicenser, then you can complete your update.

As @Romantique_Tp says, you need to check in eLicenser Control Center. You have shown everything but eLicenser Control Center in your screenshots!

@David_W @Romantique_Tp i would have posted more pics but the forum said i could only have 3 replys max :*( - i know about all the emergency and revert and stuff however i only purchased cubase pro 12 all steinberg licensing and like a lot of people if you google it we got spectralayers pro 8 for no reason like this pic - he and a lot of other people n posts

was confused like me and no it was not a trial it didnt expire and its still the full version a year later :o strange but true

im not sure if it was a bug but nope its worked and always showed Pro 8 full when you goto the about tab - checked too before upgrading it to 9 . It worked perfect and i have months and months of projects i made and still have saved ALL made in spectralayers PRO 9 . no issues no emeregncy rubbish license , if that was the case it wouldnt be possible for me to make a million projects for 5 months with the standalone PRO 9 .

this issue happened as soon as i formatted my harddrive and changed hardware - like in that forum perhaps pro 8 was given in our bundle by accident with all the other goodies like the Cs-80 etc . But that doesnt mean its upgraded and perfect working pro nine for 6 months before its swiped back by a license issue . Theres a billion people on a million forums with exactly the same thing and it isnt because they are stupid and have an emergency 24hr license - all used it for months n months n months and still have pro 8 too all working andfull version in the about tab

thx for ya help tho

You didn’t get SpectraLayers Pro 8 “for no reason”. Your Cubase licence only enables SpectraLayers One. However, those who bought a boxed copy of a Steinberg product with a USB eLicenser in the box got an All Applications licence on the USB eLicenser, limited to 25 hours of use, which was intended to tide them over until they could activate the permanent licence for their purchased product.

Merely being able to run a product isn’t enough to activate a version update - you have to own a permanent licence for the product you are upgrading from. If this wasn’t the case, you could have bought Cubase Pro and acquired Nuendo and WaveLab Pro licences for the cost of two version updates!

From all you’ve said, it seems clear that you do not have a permanent licence for SpectraLayers Pro 8. You could potentially get something back for your useless SpectraLayers Pro 9 update by pursuing a refund. Steinberg support will not give you a permanent SpectraLayers Pro 9 licence unless you can prove you bought a SpectraLayers Pro 8 licence.
