OK, I’m wading my way thru the SL12 Workflow improvements video
I use Volume Envelopes a lot in SL11.
In SL12, the “envelopes are automatically applied and removed from the project”.
I do not want that!
I require the ability to go back into a SL job and further adjust.
Easier access to the envelope edit line regardless of zoom alone is worth “the investment” for me because SL11 is not an efficient UI for the envelopes; but if the envelopes get burned in and removed automatically, that is essentially a destructive process. Thus, duplicate safety layers would be required. Users would have to finalize their envelope work before they closed a SL session…and what if there is crash mid job?!?
I must be missing something…hopefully committing the envelopes is user controllable.

Just did a very very quick test for you in SL 12.0.10 standalone.I think “envelopes are automatically applied and removed from the project” means if you select the option “Render Envelope” under the layers tab.I did a test placing various envelope points on the waveform display of a layer and playback produced the desired effect.I saved the project and restarted SL and then reloaded the project. All the envelope points i entered were still there exactly as i placed them. Regarding the displaying of the envelope points at various levels of zoom the envelope curve and its points were fully visible when the layer was fully zoomed in or out.The layer length was about 25 seconds.Hope that clears up a few things for you.

thanks so much for jumping through some hoops for me; yes, that answers my question that users can control whether the envelopes in SL12 are user controllable
