SL8 Reactivation

Hi! I bought SL8 in 2022 and 3 years later I find it to be unsupported and unactivated? What is going on? I use it mostly for real-time spectral analysis (bats) but had to recently switch to a new computer because rain got to it.

With the eLicenser shutting down by May (no email notice), I’m getting anxious about a 300e piece of software being bricked in such a relatively short period of time.

The only support recourse I have here in Singapore is for a Yamaha local distributor here which sells music equipment.

Hi, I have my SL8 perfectly registered and activated.

You need to replace the eLicenser. For this, just follow the steps that firstly appear after a Google search of “steinberg elicenser replacement”. Or either check one of the links further on that same page.

The good news are that upgrading old licenses still possible after may 20th 2025 when the old licensing system dies out.
