Slashes in drum notation

Currently working on a Finale xml file in Dorico. and struggling with slash notation, especially in drums. Here are a couple of issues.

  1. When I select a note in the bass part and ask for slash with stems in the voice tool, it converts the entire part into slash rhythms, rather than just the selected note.

  2. In the drum part I want to enter a series of slash rhythms, but also have regular notation and all the other elements of a drum part. I followed the tutorial and added slashes, and slash rhythms to the middle line of the drum staff. There was already a cowbell and tom on that line, but I can see the slashes in write mode when I cycle through that line, but when I enter a note I get a regular note head. When I select that note and move it up and down, it changes from woodblock to tom, but not slash rhythms or slashes. So then I moved the woodblock and tom off the middle line so there is only slash and slash rhythms as an option for the middle line, but now I can’t enter any notes on the middle line. When I move notes up and down it literally skips the middle line altogether.

Any advice would be appreciated.

  1. For the bass part: notate regular notes ( for example on the middle line) then right click- notehead- slashes. So just change the (individual ) noteheads; do not use a slash voice. You can set a key command for slag noteheads or cross noteheads, so it will be faster.
  2. Drums. Edit the percussion kit, and add a slash ( with or without stem ) to your kit. Now you should be able to input both regular notes and slashes.
